MRP SECRETARY ARRESTED AND OVER 100 POLICE, CIO, DOGS AND WATER CANNONS DEPLOYED TO DRIVE OFF JOB SEEKERS AT BULAWAYO KFC.
THE official opening of the United States-headquartered fast-food concern, KFC in Bulawayo under its local franchise, KFC Zimbabwe did not go well Saturday as police clashed with Bulawayo residents who felt marginalised on job opportunities.
Heavy police, CIOs deployed at KFC with dogs and Israeli made water canons, over a hundred job seekers chased away. MRP secretary for Bulawayo Province arrested and taken to Bulawayo central.
More than 100 police officers both in plain and in uniform have been deployed to crush poor Matabeleland job seekers.

KFC Zimbabwe diplomatic manager, Taurai Vaki, earlier during the week said the company has employed 45 people at its Bulawayo drive-through restaurant. Vaki indicated that the staff members were coming from Harare and this did not go down well with Mthwakazi pressure groups.
Mthwakazi Republic Party accused KFC, a newly opened fast food outlet in Bulawayo of letting down the local people by employing outsiders when the locals are job less.
MRP spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo said: “As it has become the norm in Bulawayo that big corporate companies have also joined tribal segregation and marginalizing the people of Matabeleland through relocations or simply closing down companies, or worse still employing people from Harare”.
There is a letter purported to have been originated by KFC management apologising to Bulawayo residents for sidelining them. By the time of publishing the story, the authenticity of the letter had not been verified.

We would like to apologise to the people of Bulawayo. We pledge to uplift the community of Bulawayo and we are going to correct this. We are going to replace all of our staff we brought from Harare and leave a few who will assist in the training of the new staff.
We are going to be conducting interviews on Monday August 7 2017 at 10 am KFC Bradfield. We want to create equal opportunities for all sons and daughters of the City of Kings hence our decision to call all those who finished O Level and have a C or better grade in Ndebele Language.
Please note that we are looking at employing 65 team members and we would have like to employ more than that. Bring your Identity Document and O Level Certificate.
